Yes. You’ll want a car on St. John, as with almost every villa here. Reserve one as soon as your dates are set, and choose 4WD if you’d like to explore the more remote beaches.

Many guests find it easiest to take the passenger ferry and pick up their car in Cruz Bay. If you rent on St. Thomas instead, you’ll need the car barge, which runs less often than the ferry, so check its schedule against your flight times and allow extra time. Remember, we drive on the LEFT!

Yes, there is private parking for up to four vehicles at the house. For larger groups, two rental cars offer extra flexibility for beach days and island exploring.

Vela Vista spans four half-levels, with stairs connecting the living areas and bedrooms. All rooms are accessed from inside the house, and there is no bathroom on the main living level. Explore the floor plans to see how the spaces connect.

Yes! We provide a high chair, Pack ’n Play, and baby gates. There are stairs throughout the home, and retractable gates close off access to the lower pool deck. Young children need close supervision around the stairs and pool.

Yes—a water cooler with complimentary drinking water is provided. For household use, the home collects rainwater that passes through a triple-filtration system.

Vela Vista sits near the middle of the island, so everything is an easy drive. Coral Bay is about 12 minutes away, the North Shore beaches are 12 to 20 minutes, and Cruz Bay and the ferry dock are about 20 minutes. Both Coral Bay and Cruz Bay have restaurants and shops.

Not much! Beach chairs, an umbrella, coolers and towels are all at the house, so you can leave the bulky gear at home.

Yes! Our two-bedroom, one-bath Verde Cottage is on the same property, connected to Vela Vista by a private walkway. Together, the homes offer seven bedrooms and accommodate up to 15 guests—ideal for larger families or groups who appreciate a little extra space.

When Verde Cottage is booked separately, the pool is reserved for Vela Vista guests.

Cancel 60 or more days before check-in for a full refund, less credit-card processing fees. Cancellations fewer than 60 days before check-in are nonrefundable. RentalGuardian travel insurance is available at checkout, and we recommend it, especially for stays during hurricane season (June–November).
